Italian holiday courses: Rome, Italy
From its hills, thirty centuries contemplate us...
One never disembarks in Rome without baggage. You carry it in your mind and your memory. You come here for a language study stay, to make a pilgrimage here to the sources of art and civilization...and to lose your Latin there. Who would be surprised to find oneself disoriented. No sooner arrived in Rome, the visitor discovers, going from square to square, a surprising shortcut of the centuries, passing without transition from Antiquity to the Renaissance, from the work of the Caesars to that of the Popes. In the historical centre, on either side of the Tiber, in layers superimposed or interlaced with styles and histories, a set piece of three thousand years stands up! It is enough to climb to the top of the Cello hill to have a glance of your Roman programme. Ancient and contemporary, papal and republican, all the Romes appear with their symbolic monuments on both sides of the large loop of the Tiber. The view dives down to the Colisseum, then your eye discovers in the perspective of the Forum, the Arch of Titus, the Arch of Septimius Severus, the Palace of Senators and, on the other bank, St. Peter's Basilica and the Vatican City. In the centre, the Via dei Fori Imperiali, the monument of Victor Emmanuel II, then the Pantheon and the San Angelo Castle. Rome, an open-air masterpiece, to which it is suitable to add la dolce vita as one of the multiple local recipes for happiness. The Italian capital is also the capital of all things sweet and awaits you with pleasures for all the senses!
